Question
do i have to use a specific window in a block wall?there is no opening where i will be putting this window. i will use a 1/4 steel angle iron above the opening for structural integrity with a 2x8 frame. thank you for your time. Falcon

Answer
Hi Falcon, you can pretty much use any kind of window in a block wall with the proper preparation.  If you are going to buck out the opening with a 2x8 then you can use a "flange" or "fin" type of window where the flange screws to the 2x8 from the outside.  When installing the 2x8's be sure and put a good bead of caulking behind the 2x8 and then when installing the window put a good bead of caulking behind the flange to ensure a good waterproof seal.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
