Question
i am a new general contractor with 10 yrs exp as a finish carpenter most of my work has been interrior remodeling and finish work kitchens, baths etc.. my company is growing and we are starting to do larger projects we are building a garage for a client and i have minimal experiance with foundations I have only dealt with underpinning i am looking for someone to consult on this project so that it can run smoothly and effectively i live on the east side of los angeles and am wondering if you could refer me to someone who would be willing to consult on the project for a price of coarse

i had the funny looking plans for the grade beam you were right this is between two pads

Hi again john, gosh, I am totally out of touch with the west coast anymore.  I used to live and work in that area but I'm talking 1970's here. However, your best bet is to either consult an engineer (P.E.) for technical questions or a concrete contractor for field questions.

Chances are you need a building permit which probably requires a foundation design by an engineer.  Oftentimes I will consult with this engineer of record shown on the building plans.  It might be in your best interest to subcontract out the foundation and slab anyhow.
