Building Homes or Extensions/garage door repair

Question
Hi Bruce,
Recently (I don't know if coincidentally), my garage door started having a problem.  The door can be opened with remote control.  But when an attempt is made to close the door with remote control, the door makes a sound initially, but doesn't go down.  The door closes if I keep my finger on the button from inside the garage, holding it down until the door is fully closed.  If I release the finger at any time, the door rolls back up.  The sensor area is clear of any object.  Could you advise whether there might be a simple fix, or I would be better off calling a repair man for this Craftsman door from 1994?  A few years ago, I had both springs replaced.  Thank you.  Glen

Answer
Hi Glen, see if you can find your manual or get online and look it up.  It sounds like your remote sensor needs to be reprogrammed.  On the side of the unit that attaches to the ceiling is a reset button you may need to reset the unit and then reprogram the remotes.  The information for doing this may also be on the side of the unit.  Follow the steps and if this doesn't work you may need to have a technician look at it. I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
