Question
Where can i get a detail of an LVL beam to remove a bearing wall?
The 2nd floor joists run parallel to the beam.
I tried Google & could'nt fin any

Answer
Hi desgnr, I guess it depends on what detail you are looking for.  An LVL beam is just a solid laminated plywood beam.  If you are drawing one it would look like any other beam only the grain is straight.  The application is similar to standard wood beams.  Simpson Strongtie has several drawings showing LVL beams with Simpson hanger attachments.  Go to Simpson strongtie and download the catalog..you may find what you are looking for there.  Also most engineered truss manufacturers supply the LVLs so you may be able to contact or search their websites for details.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
