Building Homes or Extensions/building on cement garage floor

Question
I am living in a home in north Alabama.  My two car garage floor does not have any cracks and it does not sweat.  I would like to punch through the kitchen wall and enclose an area to become a large pantry/storage area approximately 5 ft. x 12 ft.  Can I build on top of the cement slab without digging up the existing concrete.  There are not any building permits required in this area, however, I would like to have this done without damaging my home or garage.  Thank you for your response.

Answer
Hi Drenda,
I see no reason why you couldn't. If however, the floor in the garage is lower than the kitchen, you might want to insulate it when building to be doubly sure that it doesn't sweat.
Best of luck, and if you need more, mail me again.
