Building Homes or Extensions/Corner Beads

Question
Hi Ted,I am a supplier of corner beads, groove joints and other plastering aids now in the Philippines.I have a problem convincing contractors here to use the corner beads and grooves (they do it by fixing pieces of wood to the raw surface before plastering) and they are referring me to their architects and interior designers as they are the ones who are most concerned with the appearance of their designs.Like to consult your expert views as an architect on how you see the use of these items in masonry works as these products are commonly used in the U.S and also if you recommend the use of them in your projects. Thank you in advance for answering this question.

Answer
Shawn,

Metal and/or plastic corner beads are, as you mentioned, standard for plaster and stucco work in the US.  In my experience, they help create straight and durable outside corners, reveals around windows and at floors, and have many other uses.  It is surprising that this isn't evident to the plasterers you are working with.  If they are able to plaster as accurately without them, their skills are impressive!  Good luck in your endeavor.  -Ted
