Question
Hi, My wife wants me to put in a stone sidewalk in front of our house, I however want concrete.  I decided to put flat stone down, (about 1.25 inches thick x various dimensions) on a concrete surface which I will pour.  I don't want to place the stone on a sand or gravel surface because it will settle in time leaving it uneven, also I don't like to deal with the weeds. My question is that should I use a type "S" mortar, or some type of thinset to secure the stone to the concrete surface.   Thanks, Bob

Answer
Hi Bob, either material will work.  The mortar is probaby your best bet.  Liquid Nail makes a glue that is also effective for adhering stone.   I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
