Building Homes or Extensions/vinyl siding

Question
What are the things to watch out for if I go a non-traditional route and have
soffit panels installed vertically on the sides of my house as 'siding' instead of
the more traditional horizontal siding? I agree it will look nice, but I'm starting
to have concerns. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Kathleen, first of all you would have to use non ventilated soffit for this application..regular ventilated soffit will allow water to get behind it.  Secondly you will have to make sure that your top piece is lapped over the the bottom piece so that water will run past the joint.  I personally don't think you will like the look when it's done..think it through before making the choice.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
