Question
I have acquired an old brick block house and was curious as to what the best way to add extensions? And if i add extensions to the house do i have to use the same material the house is built out of in order to get the most energy efficiency out of my additions?

Answer
Hi Reeves, you don't necessarily have to build your additions exactly like the original, however the final wall finish is important.  You might want to consider having the exterior of the addition made out of the same material so that the addition doesn't look like an add-on. But that is up to you.  Otherwise you can make your addition as energy efficient as you like.   I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
