Question
I am building 800 ft fence in width.  I want the pickets to be 8ft in height with 4" spacers.  How many pickets will I need?  I am using 3/4" or 1" square tubing (carbon steel).

Answer
Hi Gloria, if you are setting posts at every ten feet then you will have 80 sections of ten feet each..or 30 pickets per section or 2400 pickets..if your sections are 8' then you will have 100 sections and each section will have 24 pickets you might be able to eliminate one picket per post depending on how your build your fence but usually you need a picket up tight to each post to attach your top and bottom rails to...etc.....I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
