Building Homes or Extensions/window heat

Question
We already have solar screens on outside of windows but still feel alot of heat on the insided when touching the glass.  How can I block that heat?  One of the windows does not even have direct sun and still heats up alot.  It's amazing how well dual pane windows work.  All windows are dual pane in our house except 2.  Guess previous home owners didn't finish the project.  The dual pane windows stay cool to touch.  I don't think we could afford to have the other 2 done at this time since I'm thinkin it will prob cost close to $1000 or so for the 2 fairly small windows.  Any other ideas?

Answer
Hi James,
First, it shouldn't cost $1000 to install 2 small windows.
But, if you want, you could buy peices of tempered glass with finished edges (aluminum or vinyl trim) and install them on the outside of the existing units. (Problem: unless you put the added panes on the existing sash, there will be no way to get air thru the windows.)
I hope this is clear, if you need more, please mail me again,
