Question
What size sheet metal ductwork(insulated on the inside) should be used to handle 4,000 cfm of air from a 10 ton air handler?

Answer
Hi jim, this is not a question that can be answered based on the information given.  If you are talking about the main plenum coming out of the air handler, the plenum needs to be big enough the handle the secondary ducts feeding various rooms etc.  I am attaching a link to a tutorial on ductwork that can probably help you size your duct work and plenums to suit your needs.(http://www.alpinehomeair.com/related/Ductwork.pdf)  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters.  Sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
