Building Homes or Extensions/lumber

Question
Were GCing our house in CT. Was wondering if kiln dried lumber is better for framing?  And if its kept outside in the rain is it still considered kiln dried? Any advice on materials welcomed. We are also deciding on Anderson windows and Pella. Negotiating price on that now. Which is the best window to get? Thanks

Answer
Hi Sean,
Yes, K.D. lumber is better, green will take a while to dry and the twisting, etc will pull nails and screws.
K.D. lumber will take on moisture when left to the weather, tho it will never go back to the "green" state.
Keep all lumber covered til ready to use, and roof as soon as possible.
Plywood and Advantek aren't a problem.
Either window would be okay, I'd go by price.
On fastening sheathing to floor joists, you need to use an adhesive,
this will eliminate squeaking and movement later.

I don't know how construction savvy you are, so if you want/need more, please mail me again.

Best of luck!
