Building Homes or Extensions/Foundation Question

Question
Can you roughly estimate the cost of pouring the foundation/footings with the following information.

42" footings, pour concrete.  With two sleeves for pipes, plus install 3 rows of blocks to level with back door.  The space is 12 wide.  The project is three walls with the following dimensions 16' x 16' x 8'10" and only need the foundation poured, the rest will be a crawl space.  We live in Michigan and the depth is what is required.

Also is it cheaper to just go with poured concrete throughout or blocks?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Eliza, In your instance it probably is better to go with all poured concrete mainly because it will involve just the concrete contractor.  If the contractor does both concrete and masonry then it doesn't matter and will depend on the cost.  As far as pricing goes?  Probably somewhere around a hundred dollars a foot for a completed wall and footing..in your case that would run about 4000 dollars.  I suggest that you take several competitive bids from qualified licensed contractors in your area.  The bids don't cost you a dime and you can get the exact cost up front.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
