Building Homes or Extensions/Matching vinyl siding on extension

Question
Hi
I have an existing garage that is built on a 2 foot cement wall making the height of the wall 10 feet.  I added an extension to this garage but only on a 1 foot cement wall.
When I started looking at matching the vinyl siding which is double 5 white, I either need to bring down the OSB 3 more inches or put the starter up 2 inches.  I am thinking of putting undersill trim upside down and cutting the top of the siding to use as a starter.  Would this work or do you have any other suggestions.
Thanks
Shawn

Answer
Hi Shawn,
I would probably bring the osb down, simply to keep the lines right.
But, either way is o.k.

To keep the starting line really right, you could cover the bottom 12" of the new sheathing with a gray coil stock (aluminum) and start the siding at the same level as the existing...
Best of luck,
Dave
