Building Homes or Extensions/covering a concrete patio

Question
I would like to cover and enclose a concrete patio that extends off the back of my house.  The outermost part of this patio slopes down away from the house.  This sloping portion is about 3 feet wide and ends up about an inch lower than the rest of the patio.  Is it possible to level this slab to support the new walls and roof I will be buiding over it?  If I use self leveling concrete will I be able to apply a concrete stain over the area?

Answer
Angela,  if this will be living space or if you are getting a building permit, you will be required to install a footing under the new walls.  If you plan on using stained concrete, the best solution would be to cap the entire slab to get it level and to have a uniform slab color  to stain.  Adding a thin, something to nothing, floorstone is problematic.  There are some topping cements that are capable if the old concrete is properly prepared, Mapei Plani Patch is one.
