Question
Hi Bruce, I just have a quick question about a mobile home in the Los Angeles area of California. How many piers are required for a triple wide 32x60 (2pc @ 12'x60' and 1pc.@ 8'x30') mobile home.
I can't seem to locate this info anywhere...
Thank you for the help..
Dave.

Answer
Hi David, the required footings for a manufactured home really depends on the manufacturer of the home.  The homes are built with specific foundation requirements based on the joist and beam spans of the structure.  A typical mobile foundation  has the connecting beams supported and the perimeter supported.  If your joists are 2x8 then the connecting beam should be supported every 8 feet and the perimeter every 8 feet.  Contact your mobile home manufacturer to verify foundation requirements.  If you write back with the model, make and year I can look it up for you.  Chances are that you will need a building permit which may require an engineer's design to determine footing sizes and tie downs.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
