Hi sandra, pool pumps require a disconnect which is a simple metal box with a switch or lever on the side. It is generally a good idea also to put a timer on your pump to schedule your pool maintenence. Your pump has a name plate on it that specifies what your amperage and voltage needs are. Write that information down and take it to your local Home Depot or Lowes electrical department and they can provide you with the proper disconnect. Or you can call up an electrical contractor and have them take care of everything including the permit and inspections.  I can't be specific about west orange NJ but most building departments have similar requirements.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
