Question
What is a reasonable price for a footing for a building 28'wide and 37'long.  The footing will be 20"wide by 12"deep with rebar, using 3000 psi concrete.  It is to support a masonry block wall (basement under the building). The footer dimensions excede code requirements. the concrete mix locally is $115/yard.

Answer
Hi Jackie, a rule of thumb for this type of work is two times the cost of the materials.  In your case the cost of the materials will run around 1200-1400 dollars so that would put a guesstimate at 2400-2800 dollars.  However this may not include excavation or concrete pumping if needed.  Of course prices vary with localities and how competitive your market is.  I would be interested in what area you live in and what kind of estimates you get for the work so I can update my data base.  Sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
