Building Homes or Extensions/Footings

Question
Hi,
I am going to be digging footings on a job very soon, for the bricklayers. One lot of footings is just a single skin brick porch, with a cut and pitched roof, what would the width and depth be on that? And the second lot of footings is for a utility room, (single story) brick and block being used, so what would the width and depth be on that one.

Many thanks.   Baz

Answer
Hi Baz,

Single skin foundation assuming 100mm wide brick or block as follows  depth to top of found minimum 450mm below ground level 150mm - 200mm thick 400mm wide.

Cavity wall assuming 100mm brick and 100mm block with 50 mm cavity

as above but 600mm wide.

regards
Bill
