Question
I have a new construction split-faced block foundation that I would like to stain or paint to a different color.  What would be the process I would need to go through to get this accomplished and what are the best products to use?  Thanks!

Answer
Vicki, I would avoid paint as first  choice.  I assume you are not having any type of water problems and your prime interest is simply to add or change color.  Paint will require preparation, careful application, and periodic rework.  If you can accomplish the color tone you want with a masonry stain - I think it is easier to apply and more forgiving.  IT will tend to give a mottled, no gloss finish.

One method of application would be use a garden type pump up sprayer as long as you keep it off other materials.
