Question
I am building a garage for my elderly mother in law.  20w x 22L.  We are putting a 10' overhead door in the garage in the 20' side.  The trusses will bear on the 11' walls.  what size header do you recommend.  door is 7' high and sidewalls will be 8'high. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Jon,
I think you mean the trusses are bearing on the 22' walls, if that is the case, there is little
weight bearing on the end walls (gables) and therefore minimal heading is needed.
I'd use a couple 2"x6" with a 1/2" filler (assuming a 2"x4" wall)
