Building Homes or Extensions/x ray before slab coring

Question
I saw the plumber engage someone carrying out x ray to the slab before they core for holes at the floor slab in the States. I would like to use it in Singapore. Could you please tell me who are those machine suppliers? I understand another technology by sonar. Is that true? Which one will give the better result, easy operation & at the low cost?

Thank you very much

Answer
Hi Paul, check out the following website for potential scanning equipment.  X-rays are becoming passe and Radar systems are becoming the latest for scanning walls and floors for rebar and other objects.  The nice thing about the penetrating radar is that you can get a three dimensional view of the slab.  Although called "ground penetrating radar" or GPR..it is used regularly on any slab whether it is on the ground or an elevated deck. http://www.geophysical.com/structurescanoptical.htm
