Question
I want to hang a very heavy picture over our fireplace. The Above the fireplace is stone and concrete and I don't want to drill into it. Can I locate the TJIs with a stud finder? Can I drill into them and then insert a screw to support the picture?

Answer
Hi Roger, yes you can use a stud finder to locate your joists.  A 1/4" x 3" eye bolt lag screw will support up to 100 pounds if embedded properly into a joist.  I hope this information helps please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
