Building Homes or Extensions/Bathroom window

Question
My bathroom has a double hung window in the shower area.  What a pain!  Anyways, we are looking to replace it and we are wondering if there is some kind of building code we need to be aware of when doing so or need to use a specific kind of glass etc. (BTW, we live in Southeastern Michigan.)  Thanks for your time!!

Answer
Tammy, I am not aware of any special requirement for the window.  It might be considered as a shower/bath enclosure, but I think this has to do with sliding doors and glass walls on showers.

For your own safety if the glass is at a height that you could bump into or fall into, I would use safety glazing.  A simple fix for safety and privacy might be to use glass blocks or to do away with the window completely.
