Question
Hi Bruce,
We have an old brick home, inside is covered with a plaster. We want to do a 1/2" firring and install 1/2" styrofoam insulation and cover with DryWall. Is this OK, if so I can't find a 1/2" metel firring channel.  I've found the 1/2" resilient Channel, would this work?

Answer
Hi Mike, Is there a reason you don't want to use 3/4" furring strips?  The best method would be to install rigid dense foam insulation to the wall first and then attach your 1x2 or 1x4 Pressure treated furring strips to the brick with screws or nails that will penetrate through the insulation and the furring into the brick.  And then attach your drywall.

Resilient channel can be used in lieu of the furring strips.
