Building Homes or Extensions/brick staining

Question
The brick company provided Sherwin Williams water based concrete stain to match the new bricks to the old in a small extension of about 2000 bricks and stained each brick with a brush. It did match really well and they said all the companies used a water based stain and would last the lifetime of the brick. So far it is ok. Will it last?

Answer
Sarah, staining brick has been a reasonable solution for many years.  I am not aware of the color washing out.  I suppose the worst case would require a reapplication of stain at some future date.

YOu might contact SW to ask them if they recommend any type of sealer to maintain the color.
