Building Homes or Extensions/Easy Gard and Tyvek

Question
We are building a beach house and the specs called for Tyvek.  I see our contractor is using Easy Gard.  Should I be concerned?

Answer
Hi anne, I would definately mention it to the builder.  If the specs call for Tyvek then you should get Tyvek, that's what you are paying for.  If the specs call for Tyvek or "equivalent" then your contractor needs to show you how Easy Gard compares to Tyvek in thickness, warrantee and performance.  I have never used Easy Gard or even heard of it.  I have used Tyvek and Typar which are similar..that's about all I can say on the subject.  But if Tyvek is part of your specifications then you have every right to insist on it.  I hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincererly bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
