Question
i have a question about a raised foundation house, this ? is the floor support's under the sub floor. i do know what floor joist are and rim joist are but what are the boards under the fllor joist like 4x10 or 4x12 that have 4x4 going to the concrete pilers. and last ? what is this system named all the floor framing.
thank you steven

Answer
Hi steven, you are referring to the posts and beams that support the floor joists.  This is also sometimes referred to as pier and beam.  Basically the foundations pads (concrete squares) support the posts (4x4) which support the beams (4x10 or 4x12) which in turn support the joists.  I hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
