Building Homes or Extensions/Composite decking over pool deck

Question
Bruce,
My in-ground pool's deck is approximately 30+ years. It's looking rough although it's been well cared for. I have considered using a composite deck product over it plus extend the width several feet. Do you see any problems doing this being it's an in-ground pool with a vinyl liner?

Answer
Hi Jerry, I have never personally done a composite deck around a pool but I have done composite decking on top of concrete slabs many times. I don't see any real problems with it other than possibly keeping it clean but even that isn't too difficult with a little outdoor bleach from time to time to keep the mold in check. Stainless screws would be necessary to keep them from rusting.  I hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters.
