Building Homes or Extensions/Concrete Slab

Question
We are adding a concrete slab to an existing patio to extend it.  My question is...what should we line up the trenches with so that we can get the same slab size and shape as the existing one.  Ie should the footings for it be dug in line with the side of the house or in line with the existing patio support beam?

Answer
Hi Carol, I'm sorry but your question doesn't make much sense to me.  Normally you would build your concrete forms and then dig the footings inside the formwork as needed.  As far as making the slab the same size as the existing one.  That is usually accomplished by measuring the existing size and matching it.  I hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
