Building Homes or Extensions/concrete patio

Question
have a small (10X10) concrete patio - want to lengthen it - (10X45).  one contractor says the old patio must be removed, the other says to poor concrete over the existing patio - can that be done?

Answer
Hey Mark, if the old patio flush with the surrounding area and the new slab will sit entirely on the old slab so that the two are not integrated.  Then that would be fine. If the old slab sticks up into the new slab I wouln't recommend it.  The old slab may cause the new one to crack by expansion.  I hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters.
