Building Homes or Extensions/concrete patio extension

Question
Bruce,
My husband and I would like to extend our patio out about 3 feet and run it along the back of our Carolina room. The dimensions vary considering we will be adding to the existing patio, out and extra 3'and then the new patio area would run 15'long x 6'out.
Total length 25'long.
Any idea how much this could cost us?

Answer
Hi Maria, If I read you correctly you want to pour a 15'x6' area and a 3'x 25' area for a total of 90+75=165 square feet.  Depending on how much prep work your contractor will be required to do and how accessible the area is will determine cost.  If the ground is presently covered with grass and the sod needs to be removed and the area re graded then there will be a cost for that. If there is material that needs to be taken to the dump there will be a cost for that. 165 sq. ft. is only a  couple of yards of concrete so you will have a cost for that depending on the cost of concrete in your area.  Usually 3 yards or less of delivered concrete will require additional "short load" charges driving the cost of the concrete up.  All in all I would guesstimate a project of this type with some sod removal will run somewhere around 1200 dollars.   I hope  this information helps please feel free to write again sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
