Building Homes or Extensions/finding a contractor

Question
I need a concrete contractor in the southern California (south LA county, north Orange county) area to pour flat work for a new patio. I have some construction background and know enough that the contractors I have interviewed (6 at least) don't really know what they are doing or are trying to cut costs by not following local codes. How and where do I find quality contractors?

Answer
Nancy, contact the local concrete plant and ask for their outside salesman.  He shoud be able to set you up with a commericial grade contractor that does some small work also.  Another choice would be to contact a general contractor, especially anyone you have contacts with, and ask the same thing.  Commercial concrete contractors are very familiar with codess and engineering ompliance and may be much more prepared to deal with your issues..
