Question
We are building an addition onto our house. We had a cement foundation poured to meet up with the existing foundation, new outer walls have been built. My questions is how to do the ceiling. This addition is to make the basment of our house larger. The ceiling of this addition is under our sundeck. How do you/we insulate the ceiling to prevent moisture from rotting the joices of the deck?

Answer
Hi Alison, if the deck is waterproofed properly there shouldn't be any moisture coming through so yI hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.comou would just insulate the joists like you would any wall panel with paper faced insulation stapled to the joists.  The deck is actually the roof of your addition.  So it is no different from the roof of your house, it can be insulated without moisture problems.
