Question
i am extending my one car garage to a two car. im in suffolk county ny. what size microlam will be needed to span the 16' door opening with attic space above?

Answer
Each supplier/manufactureer has slightly different span capabilities for man made beams.  Contact the manufacuter you intnd to use for specifics.  I would think you will be using their version of a 16" deep unit, espeically if this beam is also carrying attic storage laods.
