Building Homes or Extensions/How to trim nails shot by a ram set

Question
While framing my basement I used a ram set to hold up some furring strips, unfortunately some of the nails did not imbed all the way and need to be cut so the drywall will be flush. I no longer have the ram set and have tried bolt cutters and cutting pliers but with no success. Is there any tool that can cut through these thick nails and make them flush with the furring strip?

Answer
Hi David, I usually just take a hammer and set the nails with that.  A small two pound sledge should do it.  I hope this information helps. Please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
