Building Homes or Extensions/Fascia Board

Question
I have some rot in my fascia boards. Some area are small and I might be able to repair with Durham's water putty (cheap fix but I,m told it will work if I paint over the putty). Here's my problem, my fascia board is 2x7 and 2x9, in the local market it comes 2x6 and 2x8. Several years back I replaced one board (2x9) but don't remember where I purchased the board. I live in Northern California (Sacramento), do you know where I can purchase my size board?

Answer
Hi danny, it sounds like the wood you are replacing is 2x8 and 2x10..most planed lumber nowadays is 7 1/4" for a 2x8 and 9 1/4" for 2x10..Worst case scenario is you mill the wood yourself by running it through a table saw.   I hope this information helps, feel free to write again regarding this or other matter, sincerely bruce e johnson.
