Building Homes or Extensions/Exposed 1x4 on foundation wall

Question
Bruce,
Is it common to have exposed pressure treated 1x4 on my foundation wall? Thanks!

Answer
Hi ping, I'm not sure what you are asking.  Where is the exposed 1x4?  If it is at the top of the foundation then it should be covered with the house siding.  If it is embedded into the face of the foundation concrete then it may have been installed as a backing for attaching siding to.  I have seen embedded 1x4 used on interior basement walls for furring strips to attach drywall to..So I guess what I am saying is that if you have a 1x4 exposed somewhere either inside or outside the foundation wall it should be covered or it was meant to be covered and wasn't. I hope this information helps, feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely, bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
