Building Homes or Extensions/Spill on bricks

Question
I don't know if you can answer this, but
I had an old heating oil tank in my basement.  When we were removing it some of the left over oil/diesel spilled out and soaked into the brick floor.  They are soft bricks.  We've tried cleaning it with Tide detergent and Pine Sol.  What can I do to get rid of the smell?

Answer
Hi Tzeitel, try some scented kitty litter.  Not the expensive clumping stuff but the cheaper simple clay litter. Cover the area with a fairly thick layer and let it sit for several days and then vacuum it up.  Repeat again.  I'm thinking that after several applications the diesel smell should be dissipated.  I hope this information helps, please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
