what fire proof rating metal door do I need for my attic door from my garage. the door is three by three.                                  thanks robert rhinehart

Robert,  There is a code requirement for a one hour rating between a garage and living space.  This can be met with firecode drywall and either a steel door or a solid core wood door.  It sounds as if you are discussing a lift out ceiling panel which could be 2 layers of 5/8 firecode gyp.  If you are talking about an actual door, it would be some custom design to be 3x3.  Ask your local AHJ for a local interpretation of what would be required.  Doors in a one hour assembly are typically labeled as 45 minute and must latch.  I would consider the term door to refer to a vertical installation like your front entry door.
