Question
I am building a garage/ guest house with a 2x6 dividing wall.  both may or may
not be heated at any given time.  we have very cold winters  -40 celcius at times.
do i use a poly vapor barrier and if so which side. can I use a typar type barrier
on garage side only . what is your suggestion.

Answer
Hi Jim, why not put a vapor barrier on all walls?  On the exterior face of the wall use Tyvek or Typar house wrap on the interior wall use a 4mil visqueen..I hope this information helps please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
