Question
I have a house which has been rendered and painted. I wish yo apply a coating which is like a very fine granite pebbledash. do I have to remove paint and or old render or can I do it straight on top of existing painted render.

Answer
Stewart,

Read exactly what the manufacturers state for the background substrate.
Personally to obtain trouble free longevity of the product I would check the render for soundness, do a light hammer tap all round to check it's not bossed(losing its adherence.
If its bossed remove it. If its sound remove the paint totally.
You will have to scabble the render to obtain a key(scratch) apply a PVA bonding primer just before doing your new render, you can also wire lathe the whole thing and re-render, good but costly.

Any other questions feel free to ask
