Building Homes or Extensions/Cavity wall

Question
I know this isn't about building a home but I thought maybe you could help. We have recently bought a house that is made of concrete not brick and we aren't sure if it has any cavity for insulation. Do you know if concrete houses built pre-1950 have any cavity?

Answer
Hi Lesley,

Sorry for the delay - this didn't get emailed to me.

I really don't know if your house would have a cavity or not. One way to find out would be to drill into a masonry joint and see. You should be able to tell if the bit hits a cavity. Also try the companies who do the insulation - they should have some idea.
