Question

Soil line
Is there any problem with connecting a new toilet flange to a drain line with a sani-tee placed horizontally in such a way that the sweep goes in the direction of flow and the back end of the sani-tee goes to the vent?  It's not the conventional configuration, but there are existing-framing issues. A drawing is attached.

Answer
Robert, I am not a plumber.  I will ask my plumber tomorrow for an answer.  It seems to me I remember being told you absolutely cannot lay a "T" on its back which is what you have drawn.  It can be done with a wye and 1/8 bend

Toilets do not normally get a vent.  They are an unvented fixture arm, using plumber talk.  In fact, the IRC has an exception that states that if the toilet is the only fixture served by the fixture arm it may run an indefinite length without requiring additional venting.

I will sure try to remember to ask him tomorrow.
