Question
i was told that pvc can be used as a fire proof wall cladding material but when i subjected it to heat, it melts.please, can i know if it is actually a fire proof cladding material for walls.

Answer
temple, I do not know what you are attempting.  All materials have a fire rating and a smoke/flame contribution rating.  There is some temperature at which virtually every material burns, the big question is how long before it is either gone or catches fire on its own and at what temperature.  Most UL ratings deal with total assemblies, not individual products.

Normal fire rated materials used for fire or safety issues:

    dry wall
    cement board
    asbestos  (no longer used)
    fire brick
    rock wool
    ceramic

I would not consider a PVC sheathing to help stop a fire, however, PVC would be much better than a normal fabric.  There are PVC's that do not readily combust and do not support fire.  Here is a web site that discusses some PVC properties:

The ultimate answer has to do with what temperature, for how long, and what particular assembly
