Building Homes or Extensions/Insulation for outdoor tool shed floor

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
I have a 10 x 16 outdoor storage shed with a work bench. It has vinyl siding and a shingle roof. Despite the power outlet it has, my electric heater does not keep me warm at all in the winter when the temp falls below around 45 degrees. I am installing insulation between the studs of the walls and ceiling. However, the shed it raised on cinder blocks and the plywood floor allows for to much penetration of coldness. What do you recomment I cover the floor with that will provide additional insulation? Thank you so much for your time.

ANSWER: Hi Richard. You can enclose the perimeter of the floors crawl space and insulate the outside which will turn the underside of the floor into an insulated space the same as your walls.  Another option would be to use a dense foam board an inch thick, cover the floor with this and then put another layer of plywood over the top of the foam.  Or pull up the existing decking and then insulate the floor joists with batt insulation..sincerely Bruce Johnson

QUESTION: Hello again Bruce. I already rated you 10, but I have a follow-up question. What can I use to enclose the perimeter of the floors crawl space that is rot proof and economical?
Richard

Answer
Hi again Richard , pressure treated wood or pressure treated plywood are probably the most economical and longer lasting..use coated deck screws or galvanized nails for the attachment..feel free to write again regarding this or other matters..sincerely Bruce Johnson
