Building Homes or Extensions/Uneven floor extension

Question
Hello,

The orginal lounge floor of my property is wooden and where it meets the concrete extension the floor is not flat, there are two where the concrete is higher (mound in shape). What is the cheapest and/or best way to make the floor flat?

Answer
Adam, you don't tell how high the mounds/humps are.  There would be two different directions to head.  One method would be to raise the edge of the wood floor so it is as high as the humps and floorstone the rest of the concrete to match.  The other choice would be to remove the humps in the concrete.  If the rest of the wood floor is flat and the problem is definitely in the concrete, let's try to get rid of the humps.

There is a tool called a bush hammer:

these wear you out quickly, so if there is much to do it would be better to rent or borrow a power version:

There is even a youtube movie of someone using one to bush off humps:

This will leave a coarse finish and will probably need an application of floorstone to smooth things up.

I would avoid using a grinder inside an occupied space as the dust is tremendous.

I hope this gets you all set.
