Question What are the pros/cons about moving into a concrete house with hardwood floors built late 50's central NC?
Answer Hi Lady, pros and cons as opposed to what? I live in a concrete house with a mixture of wood and tile floors and don't have any problems..I guess if you are looking for existing problems? I would look at buckling wood (which would indicate water intrusion from inadequate vapor barrier or improperly installed flooring with inadequate expansion relief). If you live in a rainy area, you can look at the wood floor in front of the windows and doorways to see if there is any decay from wind blown rain penetrating the wall barriers. I was a wood frame house proponent until I moved to Florida and started building with concrete and masony and truthfully I prefer the concrete and masonry homes with concrete floors..any type of flooring can be installed on concrete floors..I hope this information helps please feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
