Good day.

Finish Floor Line (FFL) needs to elevate at 1.0 meter thereby the beam line has to be extended at the same 1.0 meter to maintain room area. An attic room will be constructed. Here are the existing conditions:

column to column length (on centers)= 2.50 meters
existing column, 250mm x 250mm with 4 pcs 10mm dia. bars.

How will I have to do this math:  Strengthened an existing  concrete column to accommodate additional loading, or, to construct a new concrete column by not altering the existing structure.

Or any other suggestions.

Thank you very much.

Answer
Eduard, the only accurate answer is to contact a structural engineer to verify the conditions and loads.  I suspect that the existing 9x9 column will be quite adequate assuming the footing/pier under the column has sufficient size for the soil conditions.

I wish I could see the conditions better, but any code authority will require an engineer's stamp.
